Sand mandala in Groningen

From December 3 untill December 6, 2008, nine Tibetan Buddhist monks from the Gaden Shartse Norling Monastery in Mundgod (India) made a sand mandala in the public library of Groningen. On December 7, the mandala was destroyed during the ceremonial impermanence ritual.

Each day began with a puja, a prayer ceremony, in which the tools were blessed and prayed for the welfare of all living beings.

I was lucky to be working near the library and was able to take pictures every day at lunch time and after work.
